One tried to get away

boxelder.jpg There is only one bug that I can’t stand.  A boxelder bug.  They are really creepy.  Have absolutely no value.  Other bugs and snakes don’t even eat them.  Years ago, I did not buy a nice house once because the neighbors had a boxelder tree in the backyard.  I really hate these guys.

A few weeks ago, a couple of these guys were crawling on the front bay window.  I squished them of course……eewwwwww (     Each day as the sun got warmer in the sky, more and more were there every day.  So many that we got emails about them on our webcam!   eewwwwwww (     Where the heck are they coming from?  We never had them before.  We don’t have a boxelder tree and neither do any of our neighbors(or we could not buy this house).  I thought we sealed them in last fall when we sealed the wood under the front window….and now that the sun heats up the wood, they are waking up and can’t crawl OUT so they crawl IN the house.   They are kinda dumb and I can just pick them up with a kleenex and squish them.  Yesterday, one tried to get away and crawled BACK into the window sill.  aaaahhhhhaaaaaa…my theory is correct.  Somehow that did not lessen my being creeeped out.

I have killed over 300 of these creepy bugs.  I can’t wait until this plague is over.  If anyone has any ideas on how to get rid of boxelder bugs in a warm window…..

wow, that sounds like it’s an open war. How is Mona reacting? I like the link 16kwadraat left. Very helpful!

We have some nasty brown looking flies at my job. We had the exterminator come but the flies are still showing up. Today I found a little worm (fly-in-waiting) in the bread container. Yikes!

oh, I clicked on the link and found out that they are not reproducing. That is a relief. Somehow the idea of those creepy bugs having sex in our wall is really grose. Thanks for the link.
And if we were on Survivor, a little protein in the breadbox would be very welcome. I hope you inspect everything you eat. And you better ASK if that is raisin bread :)
Mona just leaves them alone. Thank goodness…..

Maybe too late to pass this along to you. I’m in Utah. We’ve had record-breaking heat for the past few weeks (as has most of the country, I think). That really brought the boxelder bugs out. I sprayed with everything I could find under the sink. My savior was Spic ‘n Span’s Cinch. This allowed me to spray them on the windows without leaving squashed bugs or messy soaps. I am on the 3rd gallon (maybe the 4th). I love Cinch! Kept me from going bonkers. Hope this helps other sufferers.
