Trader Joe’s

Filed under: Blog — maxima @ 9:27 pm

Today my girlfriend and I went to Trader Joe’s.  We hear from lots of people that if you want Dutch food or spices, then go to Trader Joes.  Well, the first one in Minnesota just opened up near my friends house.  So, we decided to take a field trip over there and walk around.  When I saw some organic peppers, orange and yellow. CA_peppers.jpg I thought …..oh perfect for tonights salad.  mmmmmmmm  Then we went for coffee at Caribou and had a great time sitting on the patio.  When I got home and started to make the salad……I washed the orange pepper and cut into it and …….what the heck, it smells like a tomato!  I went back and looked at the label and nope, not a word about tomatoes (actually nothing about peppers either)CA_peppers2.jpg

Those dang Canadians……trying to sneak tomatoes in America as expensive organic peppers!!!!

It was delicious…and I get to eat them all by myself since Klaas does not like tomatoes.

hm_wine.jpgWe also cruised the Trader Joe’s wine room.  I found what I think is a great celebration wine.  It is described as made from peach, apricot and honeysuckle aromas followed by a luscious honey mango and nectar finish.  It is called a Honey Moon wine.  We will open it on Friday night and I will tell you later what we are celebrating.  Or maybe you want to guess?  What will this wine be celebrating????

(and no I do not have a new job)

And now your right arm please

Filed under: Blog — maxima @ 10:07 pm

Today I had my yearly physical.  My last one was two years ago….so overdue.  ooops.  All my labs were good except my blood glucose level.  Klaas has the same trouble.  We are both borderline diabetic due to our lifestyle.  That is the doctors nice way of saying we are both too fat.  Yah, we have hit the wall with indulging each other with favorite foods.  Now it is time to get back to a healthy eating. (more on that in later posts)  My doctor also said there is new protection for whooping cough and I should have the injection.  injection.jpgOk, no problem….in my left arm.  Later when I was home, I got a phone call from the nurse who said, “how would you like a shot today?”  I said I already had one!  She told me she gave me the wrong one.  ohhhhhhhhh, I said, what did I get then????  I got the booster shot for Hep A.  It won’t hurt me.  I said, I did not want to return today but tomorrow I would give them my right arm then.

Eagle plates

Minnesota plate.jpgIt was time to pay the yearly fee for my husbands license plates.  I know he has liked the eagle plates that he sees on other peoples cars.  So, I decided to do two nice things and get him the plates and make a contribution to the military families in Minnesota.  When you get the plates, you pay an extra $40 and that money goes to help out Minnesota military families.  It is rather hard on them when a mom or dad are in the National Guard and they get called up to go to war.  This fund provides things like phone cards or groceries or gas money.  Things that may seem little but are a big deal when they don’t fit into the family budget.  The support goes directly to the families and there is no admisistrative fees.  The plates say…..Support Our Troops.

Yellow cake and love

Filed under: Blog — maxima @ 9:00 pm

Today my husband had to go to work.  I wanted to surprise him when he got home so I decided to make a yellow cake with chocolate frosting(his favorite).  He got home before I made the cake but I decided to make it anyway.  As I was getting the flour down from a high shelf it fell about 4 feet and hit the sink with yellow cake.jpga very loud crash.  My wonderful husband came running up the stairs to find out if I was ok.  He thought I fell off the chair and over the railing from the dining room to the living room.  (I am not THAT old yet!!!!!)  We laughed a lot and I realized how nice it is to be married to a man who comes running when he hears the ka-bang instead of waiting for me to yell for help.  I managed to bake the yellow cake with chocolate frosting and it was delicious.  We ate it without falling off the chair.

Suggested Therapy

Filed under: Blog — maxima @ 7:35 pm

Well, I have been busy with recovering from my job ending.

First of all, I suggest you watch this video.  It takes 6 minutes but I guarantee you that you will have a great day after this.  It is the Evolution of Dance.  Enjoy!!!  Watch the VIDEO  Laughing is essential when you are recovering )

Then I also have been watching the first and second seasons of West WingWest Wing Cast.jpg.  I picked that because I almost added political science as a major in college until my parents said they were done paying.  Ok then, I guess I will graduate with my original two majors…..psychology and sociology.  So, if I had not been in mental illness/social work then I would be in government or politics somehow. Here are my new friends…..Leo, Josh, CJ, Sam and President Bartlet.  I am not really friends with Donna, Toby, Charlie or Mrs Bartlet.  They are just acquaintences.

I am also watching Sex and the City.  It is hillarious and wonderful.   I never watched it when it was on the first time, now I watch reruns and it is great therapy.  And I am getting to looooooooove New York.Four City Girls.jpg  Here are my other friends, Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda.
