Mr Sprinkles
We were in the grocery store on Sunday and there was a special display stuck in the middle of the isle. We both stopped and laughed and laughed. Big sign that says…..REAL DUTCH CHOCOLATE.
Mr Sprinkles is fun on all kinds of treats: ice cream, shakes, cupcakes, waffles, or right from the jar (which is not a jar but a bottle). Product of Holland
He is a clown in some kind of a baseball hat.(which clowns do not wear here, regular people wear them. Clowns wear bad wigs). You pop the hat up and pour the hagelslag out the top of his head.
They did not mention *sandwiches* (American’s will not understand that)
So, now American kids have another choice for breakfast other than artificial flavors, food coloring and sugar(cereal)……….now they can have a Mr Sprinkles on bun
just like Dutch kids.
America gets wet toilet paper in 2001 and hagelslag in 2006. hmmmmm what is next? Kroketten…..

Kroketten would be nice huh?! Or maybe frikandellen. Or real dutch pindakaas instead of the artificial mess.

It looks like tiny mini sprinkels but taste good. It was for sure not made to put on bread, more to decorate icecream.
So i feel kind of fooled…..

For Mirjam: before I knew much Dutch, Majong asked me what I would do with pindakaas. I said I would hang it around the room at a party for decoration. She giggled alot then told me pindakaas is p-nut butter. Some party that would be!
Blanke vla is a sweet runny pudding kinda thing that pours out of a milk carton. It’s pretty good.
Hagelslag is the chocolate sprinkles. Only in the Netherlands, the sprinkles are bigger and more chocolaty(less sugary). So, Americans are getting cheated.

@Majong:
I would never have guessed. There was no English on the package, so it must be awhile before we see this in America. In the mean time, I have my own supply to enjoy. Thank you very much!!!
Yah….how about Senseo tea! What a surprise you sent to me

Ahh I think we have something similar to Blanke vla. It comes in different flavors. My favorites are strawberry or pear. We eat it it with milk in a bowl. I have two cartoons of it in my fridge right now.
